Rose, The Gesture of Love

Somewhere in the past, one or some gentlemen might have got you some roses. Though the gesture is very old fashioned but it is still very sweet and nice.

Rose, indeed, have been symbol to many things, say love, beauty, even war and politic. Nowadays, different colour of rose has different meaning. Red roses, for instance, represent sincere love & respect, courage & passion. Pink roses mean grace and gentility, the rose of sweet thought. While yellow roses mean jealousy in Victorian times but now they represent friendship, joy, freedom, and the promise of a new beginning. As for white roses, they are usually inferred as spiritual love and purity, the bridal rose.

Not only the colour, the amount of rose that you give to someone also has different meanings. For example one rose means “love at the first sight” whilst 101 roses means “you are my one and only love”.

Clearly, something about rose has captivated us, humans, for a very very long time. That cannot be without reason. There might be many reasons about why we love roses so dearly.

One reason is because is very good for us, especially for our skin. How so? First, its rich and romantic fragrance that freshens up our mind and body. That is why you can find many beauty products use rose fragrance in their ingredients.

Second, rose can act as anti-inflammatory, soothing irritated skin. It’s also a rich source of anti-oxidant, which is very good in strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissues. This is why rose infusion (rose water) is very beneficial for people with sensitive skin.

Third, rose is a good skin toner which can help natural firming and toning of our skin while also hydrating our skin so that it glows.

Wangsa Jelita’s experience with rose is also special. Roses are the ones that bring us together with our farmer community in Lembang.
